It is different for every young woman. There is no way to determine when you will begin to menstruate. Some girls begin at 8 and others begin at 16.
It won't help at all to worry about it. It will happen when it happens. Every girl your age wonders if she is normal, and when she'll begin her periods. The answer is "yes, you are normal, and no one knows when you'll start to menstruate."

Discharge if your vagina's way of cleaning itself, so it doesn't really mean you're just about to get your period.
I think you will probably have it within a year. 12 is still on the young side (the youngest most people get it is 9...most get it around 12-14, and if you don't get it by 16 you should see a doctor.)

girllll I didn't get my period till I was 16 and I have pubic hair and size d cup boobs. and discharge. I even got a blood test to see if everything was ok with my hormone levels. and they were. everyone just gets it wen they are ready. not wen they LOOK ready. :-)

Seriously though....nobody can tell. One day you will wake up and it will be happening. You could also ask your mom (?) when she started her first period and that may help you to pinpoint about when you are going to start. good luck (I guess) don't fret about it too much, periods suck....It's painful and gross.

its up to your body...be glad you don't have it yet...its a pain to have,,,
some people don't start their period till they are 14+
goodness i would be singing praises to not have it...just wait and it will come..nothing to rush into..its just more money, tampons, bloating, sickness...ugh!
