Your area of the country might vary, but in Massachusetts the max. height is 8". It would be better at 7", but if this is coming from a set of stairs at a landing you want all the steps the same.
Meaning i if the stairs up to the landing are all 7 1/2", try to make the last the same height, or people will trip on the last step.
You may want to contact your local building inspector to check your local code.

not realy sure what you mean by standard height step entree but a standard size door is 6foot 6 ..and the brick size opening is 2100mm..if you mean front entrance step ..it can vary from 6 to 8 inches in height

There is no laid down rule for single step entry , but 200mm (8") is considered reasonable, remember the older you get even this seems much higher.
