Personally no because I have a career as an architect and photographer. It is a very demanding role because you have to in effect be a person of supreme ethical and moral standing with a belief in the altruistic nature of mankind and awareness of the injustices and wickedness that exists in the world, be aware of the dreadful envirnments in which some people are bought up and know the letter and interpretation of the law. Although I have a very strong ethical and moral code I would worry that I held individual's lives in my hands and that would be a very big burden for me because the law is sometimes ridiculous and unjust to the accused. Life is a lot more complicated and compromised than government made laws can possibly be. Laws are uncompromising and black and white. Life is a very grey area as I know from my struggles and challenges. We need a lot of faith, a lot of support and understanding, a lot of wisdom and guidance and a lot of love. Many criminals never get any of those things in their lives. I pity them and wish I could change our society for the better. The salary a Supreme Court judge receives is a reflection of the onerous responsibility. But I always choose a job because I like the work not the salary.

I work with the court systems and I'm sure it's because I am a social worker I am pretty liberal in my views. But I never really understood how the importance of a Supreme Court judge's age, life experience and political views all should factor into who is a judge and who is not. There needs to be a good mixture of all of these things and I would LOVE to be the laid back liberal who tried so see everything from every perspective before making a decision instead of a narrow minded, unhappy, ain't been laid in years codger that some of them are - and you do NOT have to be physically old to be a codger - LOL!!!
Wow - that felt really good - thanks!!!

No, I wouldn't. My reason being that I don't want to give the rest of my life to one job. Being at that position will have its perks. However, all the work that they must do has to be bordering the ridiculous. Also, it would hurt my outlook on life. Every so often , you'll be hearing a case on murder, robbery, rape, etc. These judges are exposed to the highest evils of man with every case that they undertake. That would give the judge a more pessimistic view.

I want a job that makes me feel satisfied, free, and bliss with. A Supreme Court judge hears too much negative, has too many restrictions, which would yield nothing to be happy about. To most, on the surface it seems like a glorious job. However, there's many cons that come with this exalted position.

Sure! The US Supreme Court has a profound impact on our lives and, with their decisions, shape our society for generations to come. Look at how ROE v. WADE changed our society!

Oh, it'd be dull having to listen to some of the corporate cases but somebody has to do it. Interpreting the US Constitution, a document written at a time that nobody envisioned cloning or space travel, well, it'd be a great challenge but a chance to leave a lasting imprint on our country.

No & not even Judge Judy who i admire very much from what i see of her because she seems stressed all the time because of all the idiots so a Supreme Court Judge would have a stressful life also

Pros: Job security, good work hours, good pay

Cons: Heavy responsibility, high stress, high cost of making bad decisions

I would have to say no. I hate being scrutinized, and being a supreme court justice would bring on the worst kind of scrutiny from all angles. No thanks.

EDIT:
Susan S's response swings my decision in the 'pro' direction. Fanatics are the ones most eager to secure high-power positions, and they, more than all others, need a foil.

I don't think so lol. A relative of mine was a judge and they said it was extremely draining work as you are faced with all kinds of problems and and the emotions of various people each day. Also, you see things and get to know things which you wish you never had known about.

NO ..too much responsiblity in that job. No matter the paycheck. Too many folks having you under a magnifying glass, examining you like you might have the plague. Wanting to know your history. Taking your life apart bit by bit. Seeing if you were worthy of the job. I dont want anyone doing that to me. What I have is mine not someone else to see. I do not like the public eye Judas..
