I was on my AIM buddy list when I looked at my friends Away Message, it said "Too sad to talk. R.I.P Bailey". Bailey is my friends dog. What you must understand is she loved this dog so much. How can I help her? I need to say something, but how? What do I do? Please help! No rude answers please, I am trying to help my friend.

Try calling her or sending her an email.

Either call her on the phone or if she lives close by, go visit her. Tell her how sorry you are that she lost her beloved Bailey and then put your arms around her and hold her tight. Sit with her and talk about bailey and yes, talk about the happy memories and the sad ones too. Let her grieve. Just be there for her. Make her a cup of tea and just listen. I lost three cats over the years and it is an extremely painful experience and I was grateful for any friend that was willing to listen to me.

This is really hard. What I would do is go to her house for a sleep over or something and talk to her mom about getting any and all pictures of Bailey. Then you can make a scrapbook for her!

I know it sounds corny, but my best friend did it for me and it gave me some much needed closure.

I hope everything goes okay. It's a really sad time for anyone.

Same happened to a friend of mine so I made a montage of any photo's I could find with her dog included and emailed it to her. She said she cried her eyes out but felt heaps better later. Must have been the right thing because she uses the pic as wallpaper on her computer.

well you could try to buy her another dog and telling her that it will be okay and that she shouldn't worry.... you'll be there to comfort her all the way and try to cook her favorite dish. Also don't remind her of happy moments with the dog because she might get more emotional.
