When I was younger, if there was one thing I detested it was old men saying "Phew, I've got so much to do now I've retired I don't know how I found the time to work."

Well, I've now been retired for 5 years (I'm now 65) and Phew, I don't know how I found the time to do any work!

Never, never be frightened of getting older. After you retire a new world opens up for you. I've taken up all sorts of interesting hobbies and projects; for instance I've taken up walking and run a walking club. We walk 12 miles every 3 weeks but I also belong to another that walks 25 miles once a month.

I've built my own swimming pool, from scratch, by hand, shifting over 40 tonnes of earth and losing a couple of stones in the process and run 5 different web sites.

If I fancy a day off, I've got the infamous bus pass, so I can go more-or-less anywhere absolutely free and my wife and I take full advantage of the "Pensioner Specials" - cut price lunches where I can also have a pint.

Life was never so good.

I'm 69 years old and have trouble walking due to surgery I had. My day is so bland,it might put you to sleep just reading about it. My routine seldom varies. I get up-shower-eat breakfast-do some little chores around the house and then sit down at the computer. I play scrabble, Family Feud and Bingo. Are you asleep yet? Then I eat dinner-watch tv and go to bed. Oh-my son bought me a pair of binoculars and I watch the birds in the trees outside. My neighbors probably think I'm watching them.
