Hey there!
Here's the answer.
x^2+x-30=0 --> Write the problem.
x^2+6x-5x-30=0 --> Rewrite x as 6x-5x.
x(x+6)-5(x+6)=0 --> Factor x out of x^2+6x and factor -5 out of -5x-30.
(x-5)(x+6)=0 --> Factor out x+6.
x-5=0 or x+6=0 --> Apply the property if pq=0, then p=0 or q=0.
x=5 or x=-6 --> Solve each equation for x.
{-6,5} Write the solutions in the set.
So the solutions are x=5 or x=-6.
Hope it helps!

x2 +x -30=0;
this one's easy:
we split up the second term to get factors, let's see how it is done:
x2 + (6x-5x) -30=0;
x2+6x -(5x+30)=0; [ i took out the common negative sign]
x(x+6)- 5(x+6)=0;[ taking x common from first two terms & 5 common from last two terms.]
this gives (x-5)(x+6)=0;
so as you can see product of two terms is 0 if either one of them is zero. this means:
either (x-5)=0, x=5;
or(x+6)=0, x=-6;
