Vegas is growing and is starting to get expensive to live their. You can always go to dealers school and try to be a dealer or a bartender. Obviously you would have to start small, like at a casino in stateline (Primm) and work your way to the strip. Other than that go on the internet and see what jobs are available. Just about everything there will require you to have a license that you have to pay for.

Las Vegas is the fastest growing city in the USA. I moved here in January after a 20-year military career and two-year security officer job protecting the Fort Lewis Army base. I have bounced from security job to security job here in Vegas after having a steady one in Washington state. My kids are here and I'm not leaving, but it's making me broke.
I have worked in casinos, wholesale outlets and shopping areas. I say with ANY non-sexual job in Vegas, be prepared for a long uphill battle and make contacts before you get here. Like any other big city, you can't just walk in with a pile of qualifications and a bachelor's degree and expect success. The buddy-buddy system is still the ONLY method that ever works. Earn your keep and expect to work hard.
I am now trying to get into the police department to get steady employment, if my child support and the cost of living here doesn't kill me.

Be advised that right now, there are an average of 3000 people a month trying to move to Las Vegas. More than half of them fail. Not saying you will, but I would have plenty of money behind you to live on until you get settled.
And be prepared for extremely long lines when you change your driver's license.

I would say get about 2 trades before you move like maybe bartending and personal fitness training. Something you can that will almost always be useful because even degrees don't get you were you need to go and the cost of living is going up everywhere. I love Vegas and I'm trying to get my self together so I can go back. But you def need some experience in something that will help you make money.

If you are 18, you can't work in many jobs on the strip so I recommend avoiding it altogether for work. Getting in with a good crowd isn't hard if you like going to the gym (24 Hour Fitness) and live in Summerlin (Northwest). Summerlin people pay more for their area and many young people work in the service industry at restaurants and the like. Try Boca Park near Rampart and Charleston first. Living alone is impossible unless you have lots of loot to fork out for rent or a home purchase. Good Luck!

Wow you sound so spunky like I was. I moved here two years ago with a hundred in cash and my car full of clothes. I found all my jobs on Craigslist.com and LVRJ.com! Alot of jobs for 18 year olds are not that great paying maybe around 8-10 for a receptionist postition. Stay in good areas and good luck.

Cocktail waitresses make 1000-2000 a week, but it's hard work, and dealers make really good money but you have competition for those jobs.
