"have you read thomas jefferson's letter to the danbury baptists in 1803?
in it he coined the phrase "separation of church and state." did repubs know that? nope. lol."

You clown. This is EXACTLY what the repubs have been trying to get through your head for 40 years! This isn't found in the Constitution nor anywhere else in founding national documents.

It was Jefferson saying that the church would not be in authority.

It was a foregone conclusion that the religion of this country would be founded on biblical principles, heck 2 different churches met in the halls of congress.

Funny how the same men that the liberals claim were hell bent on "separation of church and state" were sitting in the halls of congress on Sunday worshipping Jesus Christ, then the next day writing the legislation that made it illegal for them do just that...

"One man's opinion"?!!! Thomas Jefferson wasn't just any man, but one of our Founding Fathers, so he of all people should have understood the spirit in which the Constitution was written. If he mentioned the "separation of church and state", then by Jove, that means they were meant to be separated!

Yes, and in fact I often point out that what TJ said in a letter has nothing to do with what the Constitution means...it is one man's opinion and nothing more.

EXCUSE ME!! BUT ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE IT SAYS MAN IN CHARGE OF COUNTRY SHALL LOOK OUT FOR HIS PEOPLE......THE BIBLE IS OLDER THAN (THOMAS JEFFERSON), SO I TAKE THE WORDS OF THE BIBLE..."WHEN GOD HAS SAID ,MAN OVER COUNTRY SHALL TAKE CARE OF HIS PEOPLE", THIS WOULD BE CONSIDER THE STATE!! I TAKE THE WORD OF OUR HEAVENLY FATHER, BEFORE TAKEN WORD FROM A MAN....
