plz help!!(microscope question)

i think because they're the longest lenses and if u use the coarse ajustment knob u can break the slide. at least i think thats why. I hav my own micro scope but i get mixed up between the names of each part.

Medium and high power lenses have the shortest focal lengths. That means they are very close to the slide. The coarse adjustment could force the lens into the slide, and lenses are expensive. Using the fine focus control, there is less danger of causing such a catastrophe.

because the lenses are longer, and closer to your sample, so when you use the coarse adjustment, you risk smashing your lens through your slide. Also, at higher powers it is too easy to overshoot the focus and miss what you are looking for.
