I have a Netherland Dwarf Rabbit. I have had her for about 4 years and she was always naturally calm, yet got excited when food came or you wanted tp pet her, etc (a normal rabbit). Now, she is kind of more lazy, or "tired" acting. For example, if she is facing away from me, and I touch her behind, then she doesn't react (normally she would jump up a bit and make this grunting noise)... and I don't think that it's just because she got used to us.... she is just wayy less movable.

Also, her two front paws look like their dislocated (they're not but it looks like it.... like she can bend them back all the way). We aren't sure if this is because of her cage, because it's plastic on the bottom and it could be that she slips their and therefore over time her muscles adjusted to that. We let her run on the grass though a couple of times a week now.

She also has a bump on her side. Like a cyst or something... I don't know what it is.

Do you know what might be wrong with her?

O and please don't tell me to visit a vet. I haven't been to one with her, but I'd like to get other's opinions on here first.

Thanks.

i know you dont want to hear this but the vet is best advice your gonna get. i have raised bunnys for a long time and if the "bump" is cancerous then you need to get her to the vet asap the sooner you get her on meds the better. hope every thong works out for you!!
good luck

What you described regarding the front paws sounds like it is due to age. Many rabbits as they get older will develop front paws that look the way you described.

The bump on the side of her could be a couple of different things. It could be an abcess, hernia, bot fly larvae, or possibly cancer. Bot fly normally occurs on younger rabbits so I doubt it is bot fly. Hernias normally occur under the belly and not on the side of the rabbit.

The bump on her side should really be looked at by a vet. A person can't really tell what it is from without having experience and feeling the bump to determine it's hardness, etc to determine if it is an abcess, rupture, or something else.

The main thing to keep an eye on is how well your rabbit eats. If your rabbit starts to not eat well then you definitely need to take your rabbit to the vet.

Laziness can be from a number of things, start checking for certian things is she over 5 pounds? I notice she is more like adult age now. if she is over 5 pounds then she's over weight. depression is another possibility to why she';s lazy or not her self lately. illness is also another. Slipping, falling can cause damage to a poor bunny's feet possibly other things. With the feet issue, normally if bunnys are ok and relaxing their paws in the front will lay out ahead of them. this all the way backwards thing makes me wonder. Lumps: if she is unfixed and being she is older now her lump might be cancer growing. Like alot of female animals dogs, rabbits u name it, will get cancer if not fixed. Cancer im sure can be seen as a lump, my old unfixed mutt had tons of cancer spots by the time she passed away. Dont like the word vet myself, due to my passed mutt and all. But if you cant single out the issue of laziness to weight gain nor depression.. it may end up being an illness. hope this helps.

Well, it could be a cyst. It could also be cancer of some kind. I know you didn't want someone to tell you to see a vet, but if you care about your rabbit...you will take her right away. Any change in "normalcy" among rabbits isn't a good sign.
