If the bank pays for it you will get hit with overdraft fees usually ranging between 20-30$. If your bank doesn't pay it the loan office will probably charge you 20-30$ (like a bounced check). Some states don't have limits on how many times they can try and each one will have the fee. I had a bank transfer go bad and it charged me 25$-3 times. Call the loan office and tell them to hold off. Some are willing to work if you let them know ahead of time.

Tough situation. For a start, stop the voluntary work... charity starts at home remember. You could be earning cash instead of working for free. Look for a better paid job. It may take a while, but there is always something better out there. Downsize your home. If you rent, you might want to move to a less desirable area to free up some money. It might only be temporary. If you own, you can free up some money by downsizing. You can then use the money to start trading part time. Even selling t-shirts in a market can bring in extra cash. Do not get a credit card. All you will do is line their pockets. Chin up though, I was permanently skint for years and things got better.

They'll probably renew them, but you'll pay a small fortune in interest and fees.
