I am going to live at home for a few years to save but eventually would like to own a townhouse.

$2,200 a month supports this single male in Columbus, OH. I don't know the cost of living in Jersey, but I'm sure it is possible if you budget well.

That depends on just where you want to live and where you plan to work. Public transportation is pretty good so it isn't a problem to get cheaper housing and commute to the city to work. Housing is the biggest variable and then transportation - they are both pretty much set costs. Food and utilities will depend on how well you want to live - you can only do so much with top raman noodles. Check the local papers to see what rent is in the area you want to live.
And then SAVE SAVE SAVE if you really want to buy any kind of real estate.

Depends on where in south jersey. It also depends on whether or not you are good at budgeting. My family of 3 live on 5200 a month in NJ but we make sacrifices. Life is good though!!!

just depends on where you live. you have to factor in gas, mortgage/rent, car payments, taxes, interest, etc. and that's just for a place to live. food, pets, clothes, etc are other expenses.
