Emo Definition??

Question

I was wondering if someone could tell me what the term "emo" means? A lot of people on answers use it, saying they want to look emo, get a emo haircut, etc, etc.

its a style, genre of music. ppl hate emos for some reason i have no idea. most ppl think all of us are cutters. they usually wear lots of black, eyeliner [sometimes evn guys], skate shoes or converse, skinny jeans, tight shirts, etc. emo haircuts are usually short and part of the bangs usually cover part of the eyes. emo supposively stands for emotional.

Ok, the Mtv, Hot Topic and Magazine definition of emo is someone who wears alot of black, arm bands to cover their wrists and sre depressing and always upset. The adult or smart person definition of it is "emotional child" which is a kid who hates their life and suffer mental and teenage angst, they just think that they are kids who want attention. People (naive people) think Emo music are songs that contain the words blood, pain, wrists and the phrase "die for love". The way I perceive it, every single person has emotions and every song is based on emotion therefore every single person is an emo..... So if someone calls you an emo or someone else an emo they are obviously posers or think that it's insulting.
