When its election time, I work real hard to find out about the candidate(s) and what they stand for. I see them in person where questions can be raised. I try to do my research, and I still make mistakes. Has honesty flown the coop?

I rely heavily on material that "The League of Women Voters" distribute. It covers the issues of the candidates and past voting records. Irregardless, I know when I vote that it's gonna be a pig in the poke. Hopefully, it don't know anything about pork barrels.

A poll a few years ago said that people didn't think honesty was necessarily desired of politicians (Clinton Administration). I use the voters guide to help put out by one of the Focus on the Family groups. (Illinois Family Institute). They ask questions of candidates, and give responses. They also say if their voting record follows what they are saying.
I also watch debates, and do other research. I need to be consistent, since I hold a (minor) public office !!!!

We don't believe them. What I do is look up the voting history of the politicians I am interested in. Does their voting record line up with my political views? One thing is for certain, its hardly ever even close to 75% for the top 10. Politicians are sweethearts of special interest groups and lobbyist. Those groups are the biggest enemies of the American Political system.
While research is time consuming, it is worth the effort. You become better informed. And remember, politicians are trying pander to every voting block. A true leader among politician is down right rare.

They're politicians, it hasn't been in their description to be honest for a long time now. Besides things change, and with that much responsibility they need to make decisions on the fly, oftentimes nowhere near the best of choices. If you really want an honest politician to vote for, look for one of the ones who everyone hates, and I do mean everyone, because chances are they'll be speaking their mind rather than what they feel the public wants to hear.

In the back of the foreground to Politics, we are headed for a "One World Government" that means basically they are all on the same side. Have a look at some of the article son onwww.prisonplanet.com. that may give you an idea if what is actually going on. these people have done their homework and there are a lot of sites to back them up, from all walks of life.+

You can't really believe the politicians. All we can do is use our best judgment as to which one might be the best of a bad lot. They all lie, and integrity seems to have disappeared a long time ago.

Sorry to be rude (not necessarily my nature), but to those of you who say you do not bother with it, you get what you deserve! WE all have power, and it is to be used at the election booths. Enough of you didn't bother the last election and we will reap the rewards for generations to come in a national deficet of 10 TRILLION dollars ! Double digit inflation is just around the corner, I have seen it before and we will see it again...we cannot write money on AIR ! The party of finacial responsibility USED to be Republicans, but with Reagan, that ended...deficits soared with his tax cuts. WE cannot have it both ways...we cannot cut taxes, expect everything to be done for us at great cost, and NOT pay the bill. Democrats have become the party of responsibility EXCEPT in California where they are all raving lunatics! (I live in California). The only hope we have is either Bill Richardson or Hillary Clinton (Clinton comes two for one, Bill Clinton all but paid off all of Reagan's astronomical debt, but no one president can pay for Bush's lunacy! IF we were to pay off our debt today, it would cost EVERY man, woman, and child in the US,...... $ 28,000.00 EACH ! Do you have that kind of money sitting around to pay for this administration's lunacy? Neither do I! IF we do not instill financial responsible people in both house and Senate, and the President, we are lost...we have no pad to help us through. The Euro and Yen are skyrocketing against the US dollar, and we are going to pay through the nose for this administration's blundering foolish nonsense! We are in a quagmire of Iraq, not unlike Viet Nam...unwinnable at any cost! Ike said it best...never go to war with an enemy you do not know! WE do not know Arabs and their thinking...it is NOTHING like ours! Bush thinks he has all the answers...he can't even speak correctly! Personally, I am voting for Clinton, for she comes with Bill.....and he was a genius with foriegn and national affairs (pun intended)....we are the only country in the world that gives a damn about sex in the oval office...it is none of our business, it is a joke...big deal. AMERICAN's, get over yourself and act responsibly..get to the poles in droves!
Write your Senators and Congressmen NO on FISA...that little bill is the beginning of the end of our constitution...trust me, pass this bill and it is just the start. YES, you all should be frightened at this point. I am more afraid of my own government at this point than I am of terrorist! Goldwing

Check their records - if in office of some sort before, check how they have voted; bills they have introduced...etc. The proof is in the pudding!

They are all crooks! I only vote for "independents." It is the Democrat and Republican Parties that destroy good men/women!
