Im looking for anything along the lines of Suicide Club, American History X, Enemy at the Gate, Fantastic Planet, Donnie Darko, Three Extremes, Pink Floyd's The Wall, you know, psychological, maybe violent works of art (although I guess Enemy at the Gate wasnt too psychological, still a good war film). Anything aside from Saw. I watched the first one and was like, 'eew, what horrible actors and predictable plot.'

If you haven't seen it yet, the Korean movie "Oldboy" is the movie that comes to mind. Mysterious, violent, psychological thriller par excellence.

I like the David Lynch films, esp. "Lost Highway". "Requiem for a Dream" by Aronofsky is classic. Also, "Shopping",
"ExistenZ"... if you like foreign film, check out the french director Godard.

Tideland

Note that Tideland is unusual.. it's Terry Gilliam at his finest..This trailer is not a great indicator of why I recommend it.. you have to watch to understand.
