I watched Silent Hill that was the last one I rented from my video store and it was extremely scary with the little girl and her Mom but I would say for me "Nightmare of Elm Street" with Johnny Depp when he was really young was scary hehehe followed by Halloween..........

Exorcist.... by far.

I watched it for the first time when it was re-released with bonus footage and enhanced picture in the theatre (back in 2000 I think), and I almost had to leave the theatre I was so freaked out.

Nothing's been able to top it since then, and I can't bring myself to watch it again... whew... GREAT horror film!!!!!

I couldn't imagine watching that in the 70's when it was first released back when people were not as "jaded" and exposed to so much as they are now! It freaked me out in the year 2000!! No WONDER it's such a legend in it's own right! :-)

Ah! A refreshing, if chilling, change of pace---I agree that the very first Nightmare on Elm Street gave me some very scary moments--the concept of the line between dreams and reality being erased was very creepy---Halloween is another favorite, but if you want a good ghost story, try George C. Scott in The Changeling--was released in the 70's, and very mysterious and otherworldly.

Well Nightmare on Elm Street was scary the first time I saw it, but the scariest one was Exorcist, when it first came out, now I would have to say The Grudge.

The Grudge scared me pretty good. Also Silent Hill although to me that one was just more weird than anything and gory. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was also scary! A true story! I liked the remake better!

I don't know if they are the scariest, but the one's that messed with my head the most were 'Poltergeist", 'The Omen', & 'The Exorcist'. I was scared of Nightmare on Elm Street when I was little, but the first three I mentioned will still make me uncomfortable if I watch them now.

I love horror movies its my fave genre and I get really disappointed `cos I seldom see one that`s scary enough. I must say though one I have watched a few times that is pretty scary is decent, about the pot holers. Another one is `Good fellas I know its not a horror but the violence scares me `cos it looks so real

Silent Hill was ok..the nurses totally freaked me out!! I'd have to go with The Ring being the scariest..it totally had me wigged!! Freddy always scared me..but don't watch much of it anymore. Dawn of the Dead was crazy too..zombies creep me out! I love horror though..anything that grabs me..and it seems to be worst when they're based on true stories..
