Without a doubt and very little exception, they put Bush and their party first and the American public second. I also fault the DINO's for allowing this to happen. Pelosi and Reid need to be replaced, their leadership skills are sadly lacking.

Loyalty to Bush just as the Democrats did when Bill was President.. They voted for the bill out of loyalty to him
Funny how it was the Republicans (party of small government) who actually grew the Government from 1994-2006
The Republican Controlled Congress gave us the largest entitlement program since LBJ.. They gave it to us broken. Plus it is so confusing, not even Congress understands what they passed. The Bill which the Republicans passed and 'W' inked.. The Medicare/Medicaid Script Drug Program. It will cost we, the taxpayers Billions of dollars.

I am a staunch Democrat and I think all congressman vote with a loyalty to party or self . They have no interest in the issue unless it is helping their district. or if they can sell their vote to another congressman and vote his / her way for a return favor
If these people did this on the street instead Of Wash, it would be called prostitution

Loyalty to Bush.
Those 14,000 pork-barrel bills which Bush signed to a tune of $25 billion dollars between 2002-2006 bought the loyalty of Republican congressmen.

The same thing can be said of Democrats (they vote against bills simply because the President supports it). This is not a one-sided issue (except to the uninformed).

With elections coming up and with Bush's term expiring I would say NO. Yet again, do the Democrats put bills foward they know will not get passed to make the Republicans and Bush look bad (ie Childrens Insurance act and withdrawing budget from Iraq war). Right now congress is not in a good state period.

The republicans don't have someone like Ted Kennedy to copy from so I'm guessing they actually read the bills and vote accordingly.

Bush approved every bill (no vetoes) the first 6 years he was in office-the House and Senate were controlled by Repubs-kinda like the Mafia-they did what they wanted and spent what they wanted. How could somebody be as so ignorant to refer to Dems being resposible for Pork..the Repubs have bankrupted us. It is a FACT.

Both parties pretty much stick to party lines, but those lines are based on party platforms -- quite the system huh ?

They vote on the merits. I don't think any are loyal to Mr. Bush. My worst case example is my own Senator Arlen Specter. Mr. Bush went to bat for him and helped him get re-elected. Now, all is forgotten.
