I completly agree Helina, they do the same thing to me. Because of they're history and the fact that they don't have their own country, and a long and rich history (like us Ethiopians do) they want us to be a part of them. I am perfectly happy with being an Ethiopian, I don't indentifiy my self as being anything that I'm not, because the fact is, I'm Ethiopian and I'm proud of it. Black people aren't too happy with what they are so they try to "unite" with us by saying that "they are the same as we are". sadly, they are lying to themselves. you are what you are and you will never ever be something that you're not right now. I suggest you black people be happy with what you are (we understant you don't have a good history) for the person God created you to be. Helina, I think they reason why they do it is because, we have a long and rich history and cause we are a very beautiful people and because our hertige and history facinates them so they want to be us; that is why they say that you are "black just like them" You are what ou are and don't let them tell you what you are. They feel inadaquate so it makes sence why they want to be something they're not. You are right our race has nothing to do with theirs, none whatsoever. Thank you for speaking out my fellow Ethiopian sister. leave all the animosity between the whites and the blacks. remember we have no part in their racial conflict.
An ethiopian never says to a black american "you are the same as I am" and if they do, it's to make the black person happy because the ethiopian knows that the black person rather be an ethiopian than an african american. Truly sad. Thanks again.

This whole thread goes to show how dumb americans are black white and everything inbetween... i hear u on some levels and sympathize, but on another level i think i'm hearing something else... let me go out on a limb and explain myself... strictly on the facts, yes semitic is not *******, while both are african... africa is a mighty big place last time i took a look... but u are in america where facts don't mean anything, and white rascist as*ho*es are around every corner, and they will call u n!!!!! etc etc etc... but, for myself, a jew from brooklyn, i get a little frustrated when some folks want to see me and adolf hitler as the same people -- we're both white! so yeah, u have pride in your culture, and get pissed when people want to act like u and them are the same just because your skin tones are similar in the american spectrum... and i'll go way out on a limb here -- many black folks here -- i think -- belittle themselves and their own culture when they grab onto the upper egyptian kingdom, or ethiopian etc... as if there weren't significant accomplishments south of the sahara-- timbuktu, or the ghanian empire, or obviously the nubians and the upper egyptian empire (i dont have a degree in african history so that's about as much as i do know)... BUT-- here is where i lose u... honestly i feel like i'm hearing some bourgeoisie bul!sh!t in disguise... while i know i'm not anglo-saxon, i can't exactly blame a black person for seeing white and thinking white... cause the reality is in america, white folks have done heinous things to black people, and sadly that includes white jews (some)... and what i'm ultimately trying to say is that while u may not be 'black' -- u live in america where there is a significant black population that has been and still is at war for their survival-- and here u will be seen as black by all but the most sophisticated... so are u just going to go to the trendy little club and pretend the world around u doesn't exist?

First, who said black people care so much about Ethiopians? Um...you. I think you are superficial if you think your race and culture is all you have going for you. This is an answer and question site the last time I check. So, maybe you need to get over yourself. Just because one person continuously ask questions about Ethiopians doesn't mean all black people feel that way. It is sad that you result to stereotypes and generalizations when your in the same boat. Because anybody who is educated knows that every African country has mixed bloodlines not just Ethiopians but their still Africans, so it is nothing new or special. Again, get over yourself. Because it you truly didn't care, it wouldn't bother you. Don't bring you personal issues on this site or use it as a scapegoat for other people. Secondly, "black" is a board term, it can compose of many ethnicity and races, not just one.

Just take a deep breath and count to 10, because it isn't all that serious. If you know who you are, then why the f-ck are you so upset about other people trying to tell you different. If you're confident in yourself and your background, then it really shouldn't matter. They obviously got under your skin and I'm sure that's what they wanted.
