I've just never understood why so many people just LOVE this movie to death. I gave it a watch a few years ago and I thought that it was pointless and dumb. It reminded me of a cheap after-school special. I tried watching it again to see if there was anything I missed the 1st time, but alas my opinion of it hadn't changed. Could any of you people who like it explain to me what it is about it that's so good?

Agree with all of the above, and it's got the best sword fight scene ever filmed...just love it

It's a typical fairy tale in some ways, but it sets itself apart by a heavy dose of self-awareness. It's witty and intelligent while still offering all the benefits of the standard romance.

It s a love story its sweet and romantic and funny at the same time that is why I love the Princess Bride

I don't know, it's just good dumb humor...like the movie Spaceballs or Robin Hood Men in Tights.

Great actors, great story. The whole family can watch it. The story is a typical fairy tale but with deeper humor for the adults. It's hard to believe that you didn't enjoy it. One of my all-time favorites.

You and I are one of very few. Most people I know love that movie, but I thought it was so lame. I have seen many other much better love stories and fairy tales.

The way it was told like a Story
was different for a Real Movie.
It had ALOT of Action, and a Great Cast.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE. :-)

The Princess Bride is intelligent and humorous, a combination that's hard to come by these days

I LOVE THIS MOVIE!! It is cutesy and predictable. It is also a "follow your dreams", "follow your heart", "you can overcome great odds" movie. It is also very sweet and endearing, and a pleasant escape from reality. It also is the source of some really good movie quotes..."as you wish"..."my name is inigo montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die"...and of course there is the "dread pirate roberts"...
