Are most people that insecure they have to ask if anyone else agrees. All but 1 moron will answer the opposite and they will still pick the moron because they agreed. Why are people on here so worried about their opinion being validated?

Insecure, I guess they are just looking for self confirmation that they are right and as no one in the real world gives these people the time of day the hope people in cyberland will, and to be honest people will agree with anything on here for the 10 points !!

People everywhere are like that. It's human nature. Most people are quicker to believe the piece of information that reinforces their point of view.
What I also see lot is people giving a good rating to answers they agree with, and a bad rating to answers they don't. Why?
The rating systems asked whether or not it was a good answer, not "Do you agree?"

You answered the question in your question. Because they are on here to validate their opinion. That's it! That's the reason! When dealing with an opinion question, what else would someone pick?
That said, I have had people who I disagreed with pick my answer as best answer, so you never know. Everyone on here isn't like that!

Sometimes the truth is a hard thing to handle and people would rather pick an answer that agrees with their own point of view then pick one that might make them look not so smart.

I COMPLETELY DISAGREE. I AM THAT MORON! Seriously though, I think you are exactly right and i have thought the same thing about several questions. Some of them I read and I'm like, "Why even bother to ask that?!?" Some I don't even bother to answer since they are so subjective.

That's exactly why I've quit chat rooms! We don't like being wrong and we get all defensive if we think someone doesn't approve of us. We feel the need to prove that we're smarter than anyone who would disagree with us.

Why would someone ask a question and then pick one as best answer that contradicted their own opinion. I don't change my opinion in mid stream just to satisfy the asker.

Because they don't have an open mind
They don't want to listen to opposing views
Even when facts don't support their opinion's they are too self-satisfied and righteous that the facts must be wrong and they are right.
