Volkwagon has a missing hose from an altanator looking thing to somthing that sucks in air what is it called?

its on the right side of 2000 jetta 2.0 liter car first hole is on the alternator looking thing which is not the altanator but is on he engine other is on a box looking thing ? what is this hose... plz
