Spiders are a good luck animal, they are said to bring wealth in a home. They represent the spinning of life and in mythology it represents the moon deities in many cultures. In folk wisdom it also represents good news coming soon for you. In African tradition for example Anonse (the spider) is the creator of life and humans, in Egypt the spider was linked to the goddess Neth, she used to spin the web of the world.

The spider is in Latin defined as a Psicopompo, it means it can often scare you because in your ancestral mind you link him to predators, the soul freed from the body or death.

In Italy where i live it is bad luck to kill a spider because it is connected to money.

Hope this helps :-)

In some myths, spider created written language from the shapes in her web. Spider is one of my spirit totems, and used to come to me when I was letting my creativity become stagnant. Three spider bites on the arm kind of get one's attention!

The spider symbolizes patience for its hunting with web traps, and mischief and malice for its poison and the slow death this causes. It symbolizes possessiveness and storage for its spinning of its prey into a ball and taking it to its burrow (for burrowing species).
