My daughter is now two months and 1 week. I had an episiotomy. My doctor said I'm all healed. However, I can't help to feel frightened. Will it it hurt?

It's very natural to feel this way because of all of the trauma your body goes through with birth and the pain and healing of an episiotomy.

Intercourse might be "slightly" painful or cause discomfort or tenderness but it should NOT hurt a lot. Just take it slow (and use ky) and if something just doesn't feel right, hold off for a few more days or another week.

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter!

My daughter is now 4 months old.. She was 8.1 when she was born and i also needed an episiotomy.. I wont lie, after my doctor released me to have sex it did hurt a little.. The scar tissue is still going to be sensitive for a while.. And it still hurts me sometimes now.. But i have found some ways to make it not hurt so bad.. First, Go Slow!! in every way possible.. There is no need for rough sex right now.. Next, buy some KY.. even though you might think you are self lubed enough, its still easier the first few times with some extra help from the good ol KY.. Last, Stick to positions that are least likely to rub so much against the scar.. Missionary is the best for that.. (dont put your legs over your head though, that will really hurt..lol!) and if you like it on top, lean forward it helps.. and when when it come to doggy style (if you do that) wait another couple of weeks just to play it safe because that is the only one that hurt really bad for me.. well, I hope i helped out a little.. Happy Humpings!! lol jk jk jk

It nearly killed me after my first was born (pretty extensive episiotomy), and took a while before it felt normal again. But you just have to give it a try. Some people don't have any pain at all, and you won't know until you try.

The first time is going to hurt a little. Take it slow, use lubricant...just ease back into it. My doctor told me at 3 weeks I was healed and could go back to do everything. It was sort of uncomfortable, but by the 3rd or 4th time it felt normal again. You'll be fine!

With the doctor's blessing..go for it! It didn't hurt for me the first time after giving birth..just use a lot of lube and take it slow. I know it felt a little strange..just different. Tell your partner to really be careful at first, and you'll be back to your old sex life in no time. :)

yupp, its going to hurt. sorry, but it will. its not going to hurt because of the episiotomy, its going to hurt because your muscles are going to be tight from healing. it will be fine. it gets better as time goes.

I felt the same, afraid, but it didn't hurt at all. It really depends on how closed they made you. but really it shouldn't hurt. Good luck!
