I don't mean emotional pain...I'm talking hardcore physical pain.
I'm dying over here. I was drugged up and slept all day, but it didn't help.

Beth: I have a herniated disk in my neck. I have pain in my neck, of course, and all down my arm. It didn't help that I worked 32 hours this weekend, either, lifting patients and whatnot :-(

I usually do Vicoden (unless my pill contact happens to have some OC or some Morphine tabs... but that probably isn't legal) simply because if I start getting carried away with them, I can put them down far more easily than some of the pain meds I've picked up in the past.
I would say talk to a doc about your pain meds not working. Opiates (such as the ones I just mentioned) tend not so much to deal with the pain itself, but to take your mind off of it. I would say 1000- 1600 mg of ibuprofen would do it too (I'm not joking).

Honestly? It depends on where the pain is, what caused it, and how long it will take for the pain to go away.
Without knowing why you are in pain, not a lot of advice to give!
About the best thing you could do in that situation, if all else is failing...heating pads and drink lots of water. That's how I got over hurting my back after I fell. I realize that's nothing compared to what you're going through, but I am unable to take any sort of pain reliever. Can't get "drugged up". I just have to get over anything that may be wrong with me on my own.
I am so sorry for your pain and hope that you get better soon.

I take medicine and lie down and become a brat. I have chronic migraines, so I have injections at my house that I get when I have a bad one. I'll tell ya, my liver is so screwed up from everything I've taken to help the pain.
I'm really so sorry about your back. I really wish I could do something. I wish you wellness!

I swear a lot when I'm in pain. Vicodin didn't do much for me, but it helped dull the pain to some degree. Not much you really can do but get drugged up and try to take your mind off it with movies or a book or something.

I often wonder about this too, a very good question! I live in pain every day from headaches that never go away, ever. It's been that way for 23 years. I just deal with it, because Disability would probably pay squat and I can't afford to live on squat. Sorry your hurting today hun, I wish you felt better soon! Love Angel â¥

I live with pain on a daily basis due to back problems and surgeries. I get spinal injections and take a prescription pain medication. Nothing takes the pain away completely but, it does take the edge off.

I just sort of deal with it. When I have a headache or something, I might take aspirin, but other times, I just deal with it until it goes away. I guess it doesn't bother me that much.

Take deep breaths and let them out slowly to keep the oxygen flowing; take warm baths to soothe the aches; and keep the tv on.
