Start by asking people around you what they would be willing to pay for that no one else is doing for them. People who build a niche business do it by providing something no one else has or can. Don't look around at the worn out or saturated business models in front of you... try to think outside the box... keep your mind open for the moments that you think "what I wouldn't pay for someone to..." and those are the thoughts to get you started.

Do you have specific talents, hobbies, knowledge ?

Do you want a small income to get you through a way to build a serious income after you graduate?

One of the advantages of college is you have access to professors and grad students who have products and services that can be commercialized.

Start with software and engineering products. Build a website, make some sales -- preferably online.

If your college has a strong biology department, ask the profs if they have seminars on gene splicing that they want to sell online.

You could do somethng in the dating field. Like for example have parties that men pay to get into where they can meet single women. Offer some cheap food, booze and music and there you go! You could just say its a mixer and charge everybody like $5-10.00 to get in. Another idea is to sell common items like shampoo, and snacks to the students. Also school supplies would be good

Students hate to wash their own clothes. Be that service.
Students with disabilities need students to take their notes.
How about some food catering service; delivery? Charge the student to deliver but talk to the local business to allow your services to work with them.

I had a friend that started a small store in his dorm room. He carried al sorts of snacks, smokes and condoms and he made a small fortune.
