Well basically I want to be able to run an anti-virus program without slowing down my speed much. I usually multitask a lot and it ends up crashing my current computer... college, you know.
basically because Im trying to decide between these two laptops, the one with the core 2 is a little more expensive but has wireless N which I want, and the AMD is just a bit cheaper.

update #1
Option 2
Modified answer for you:
Thanks for your update. Yes AMD are by far cheaper and really give no headaches. I give you my e.g. I had P4 Toshiba Satellite and ran 28 processes in task manager and my pc used to hang like anything. My brother has Sony Vaio Intel Core duo and I was impressed by it. My brother bought it last year for £1000 and I just bought last week really, its HP Pavillion AMD Turion 64x2 Dual Core, 1.9GHz, 2GB ram, 160GB hard drive, 500(something) MB Nvidia shared graphics all for £599. It also has an option of Quickplay, just turn on ur comp insert DVD and press Quckplay button, it plays DVD without actually loading windows.
Hence, my conclusion. You can try for better and cheaper option because all softwares always have updates and one day pcs do become slower when its 'fixed' resources are used up. Good luck with your purchase.
Also, my friend I would highly recommend you to watch a documentary regarding PC's. ... .Its called Triumph Of The Nerds. If you dont find it just type it in youtube and its all uploaded in parts. You will have full information about companies and who does what and makes what and made what.
Any probs message me, I'd be happy to advise.

Like many, it depends on what you are using it for. Also there are clock speeds and types for each of the brands you listed.
As a brand, I would steer away from 1 and 4 on average and concentrate on 2 and 3. Do some research using the phrases amd vs intel and you will get alot of sites showing why one is better then the other. Read some of the blogs and chat rooms

What are your requirements? If you are looking for a mobile processor, the AMD Turion would be the better choice if you weren't planning on always being plugged in.
Please state your usage requirements and how much you want to spend. Do you have any other requirements?

2) Core2 Duo
It's the most advanced and it's a duo core so if you're doing 2 or more things at once you'll see the difference.

depends on what you need it for. Core 2 duo is best for Intel. But for gaming the amd will run cooler

I would say option 2, provided the bus speed is at least 800 Mhz

Trust me, most users who have used AMD say it’s as equally good as Intel (even though Intel is more famous only because it started earlier) only MUCH CHEAPER!
So, my advice’d b either AMD Athlon (for desktop computer i.e. PC) or Turion (for laptop).
Hope that helped!
