Some women do and some don't.
If you do, you'll never know because you will be busy doing other things - like trying to cope with the pain and intensity of labor. You are not going to worry about making a bail movement or anything.
Who cares anyways?? When you walk into a hospital , you leave your dignity behind. They are going to see everything anyways. They are all trained and if something does happen , they are not going to make fun of you or anything. They will probably not even let you know if anything happens. The nurses are used to it and just quickly change the pads and replace them with clean ones.
P.S. Getting an ENEMA will not guarantee you won't push out some fecal matter! That is a myth. Especially if you're labor is prolonged. Your body could produce more waste for you to pass even after you've had the enema. It's a nasty and uncomfortable procedure and a waste of money.

Not during labor but during the pushing stages of labor you can go #1 or 2 or yourself. Its ok, its completely normal and the doctor or will just wipe it away and not say anything. Its ok, when you are in that much pain all you are worrying about is getting that little baby out. Good luck and god bless =]

you do have a lil bit of a bowel movement but that is when you are pushing the baby out... the same muscles that you use to have a bowel movement are the ones you use to push the baby out. But when you are in labor you don't eat anything so by the time you actually get to have the baby there is usually very little left in your system... Don't worry its not like a whole bunch or is anything to worry over and be embarassed about. It happens all the time.

If you are asking if we urinate or poop during labor, the answer is yes to pooping.....
It's not a formed poop though,....it's more liquid than anything. The nurses and doctors are ready for it....I had a mirror (requested) at the foot of the bed and watched my son's birth process....when his head came down into my lower pelvic region before it crowned, I did feel pressure in my bottom and out came some brown liquid...the nurses IMMEDIATELY covers it up/cleans it up...I didn't even have time to say, "Oh great...that's embarrassing!"....and to tell you the truth....you really do NOT care at that point during labor!!

I did with baby number 2. I didn't know I did, but my mom told me - gross!! I had a catheter with baby 1, and didn't do the other. With number 2 I had no meds, so no catheter, put I didn't pee, just poo. Don't worry, the doctors see this all the time.

most women do not urinate on themselves but it is not uncommon to have a bowel movement when you are pushing. you are pushing like you have to crap a watermelon and sometimes it just happens. nothing to be embarrassed about or ashamed of. some doctors will give you an enema to help with that so you do not do that if you are truly worried about it. hope this helps, Holly

As a past labor and delivery nurse....YES, women do poop and pee during the pushing stage. But please be assured, IT DOES NOT BOTHER US!!! We are completely used to it!! It also lets us know that you are "pushing" in the right spot! Quit worrying and PUSH AWAY!

Yes, it's common and I hope everyday that it doesn't happen to me..lol. It's embarrassing but I guess the hospital staff have dealt with worse.

I have a friend who did deficate while giving birth, however, with my experience with my daughter, i was given an enema, when i got to the hospital and personally i think it was the best thing.
Honestly though, i don't think it's something you should worry about, if you do you do if you don't you don't. good luck!

my best friend had to be cathetered to prevent her from peeing on herself. my sis said she did deficate on the table during labor.
it is recommended to use the restroom as much as possible before active labor. if you are having constipation close to labor, it is a good idea to have an enema to prevent an accident.
