If you have about $2,000 in a savings account, convert it to a personal loan for 24 months and pay it back in 12. If you do not have the funds, then ask your parents to lend you the money. That's how I did it 45 years ago. Also, you only need 2 credit cards.

This is tough, it will take some work on your part. You could try to get a co-signer, but this person would have to be willing to put their good credit on the line for you. Or you could start building your own by getting a store credit card, for like $500 dollars and carry a balance, this is important because if you just charge to it then pay it off you won't build any credit. The second option takes a lot longer but at least you did it yourself. Good luck!

Amanda:
Be careful what you ask for. Once you get credit in your name the offers will soon start to pour in. BE CAREFUL...treat it like it's glass. You can't abuse it.

Check out my profile. See if you fit in one of the categories like "Student". Make sure that you apply for the correct type of credit card. Credit criteria is different for different types of cards.

Store cards and gas cards are usually easier than a Bank Issued Credit Card. Do you have a checking and savings account...this also counts. How long have you been employed?

Make sure that you aren't applying for credit too close together because numerous inquiries will count against you also.

Let me know if I can be of some assistance to you.
