If you continued taking your birth control pill because you didn't realize you were pregnant, don't be alarmed. Despite years of this accident happening, there's very little evidence that exposure to the hormones in birth control pills causes birth defects.
Still, the birth control pill is a potent estrogen. Lessons learned from women who took diethylstilbestrol — a synthetic estrogen that was later linked with cancer — to prevent miscarriage in early pregnancy suggest that such exposure should be minimized.
Once you learn that you're pregnant, stop taking the birth control pill.
Could it be harmful? Here are opinions and input:
If you accidentally took some birth control and then found out you are pregnant, the baby should be fine. However, see your doctor to make sure you are taking the right steps.
Studies have shown that taking birth control pills while pregnant results in an increased risk of birth defects.
The writing on the package states "Discontinue use if you become pregnant." If you know that you're pregnant stop taking the pills. (They wouldn't do you much good anyway!)
I think what this question is asking is if you're pregnant but don't know it yet and you're still taking the pill, if it's dangerous to the fetus. Well, I'm in that exact situation right now, and my doctor and obstetrician both said not to worry about it.
There is no proof that the birth control pill will harm your baby. If you are sure you are pregnant, stop taking the pill and see your doctor. Don't be overly alarmed if this happens. It's happened to others like yourself and the babies turn out perfectly healthy.
From what I have read yes it can. Look on any warning labels or the fact sheet sometimes given with the prescription. You should get to your doctor immediately for a test and discuss with him also.
But you should feel physically fine. If not contact your doctor.

I didn't. I conceived when I had been taking birth control pills for 11 years. I did not know I was pregnant until I went to my doctor for my regular yearly physical. I was 17 weeks along. The only problem I had was a pain in my stomach when I ate and some heartburn. I resorted to eating soup and toast since that didn't make my stomach hurt too much and ended up losing weight. I never felt nauseous or had any morning sickness throughout that whole pregnancy even though with my older 3 kids I had a lot of morning sickness. I never had a fever. I had headaches, but mostly migraines, which I had been under a doctor's care for about 10 years. Oddly, my migraines disappeared after the baby was born and I haven't had one since.

Get a test. That is the only way to rely know if the feeling of sickness you are having is coming form a flu, the pill reacting to your system, or if you are pregnant.
Some women get sickness, others don't. I didn't have any signs of pregnancy till my 26th week when my son kicked me...
Some good things for you to know :
Will taking birth control pills make a pregnancy test inaccurate?
No. Pregnancy tests are NOT interfered with by the hormones of oral contraceptives.
What happens if I was taking oral contraceptives when I was already pregnant?
While no one would intentionally take oral contraceptives if they knew they were pregnant, many women each year inadvertently take pills being unaware they are already pregnant. In the U.S. and Europe, in approximately 2-5% of all pregnancies mothers have a history of having taken birth control pills without realizing they were pregnant. Many years ago, with higher dose contraceptive pills, there were concerns that the hormones in pills could produce genital changes in both male and female babies. Subsequent studies have failed to confirm this. At the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada, the Motherisk program which tracks various birth defects, there is a good article on oral contraceptives and their effect on pregnancy (3). This article suggests that there is no need to be concerned about the pills causing birth defects any more than the background rate of birth defects that normally occurs.

ok, first i want to say that if you are in fact pregnant, then there is no need to take birth control pills and it would be best not to.. the only pills that you need to take are your pre-natals and iron pills if needed and those would be prescribed to you by your OB-GYN.. If you dont have one you need one ASAP.. And if you cant afford one then apply for medicaid at your local family planning clinic and they will provide a lot of help from there..
Now to your main question, Yes it is common to get sick while you are pregnant.. It is called morning sickness.. A lot of women get this and then there are some who dont get any at all.. This is very normal as it is your body adapting and reacting to the new hormones that your baby is making within your body.. This is only bad when you run a temp over 104 and/or can keep water down for over 24hours.. In which case you will need to go to the hospital for some IV's so they can replenish you because you and your baby will be very dehydrated by that point and also possibly get some anti-nausea medicine ..
As far as the headaches go, welcome to parent-hood.. you will love those because the greatest love of your life will cause them.. lol
Good Luck!

Probably not a fever - sounds more like you're catching cold. I took the remainder of my pack of pills because I did not know I was pregnant. I did not notice anything amiss during those two weeks and my doctor wasn't overly concerned. If you suspect you are pregnant (because you missed a pill or something), then definitely call your Ob/Gyn.

Why would you be taking birth control pills when you are pregnant?
Get in touch with your doctor immediately. Let him/her direct you professionally.
You don't want to hurt the unborn baby.
