Usually those disks are unformatted. Put them in, right click on the drive in my computer and choose format. Windows will format the disk and make it ready for use. However, I'd be a bad tech if I didn't recommend that you didn't use floppy disks. They are prone to damage. A good USB flash drive is usually a better idea. Good luck

If you are trying to save something to a Floppy, insert a blank Floppy into the Floppy Diskette Drive.

Go to your File Menu and Select File > Save As >

When the next window appears, you should notice on the top, that it says "Save in: " and it defaults to your My Documents Folder

Use the small drop-down arrow to the right of this field, and go through the list until you see A: Floppy Drive (or something similar)

Highlight the Floppy Drive. Near the bottom of the screen, you will give your file a name. Depending on what application you are using, the File Type field is probably already filled in correctly for you. Then click on "Save" and the file will save to the Floppy.

Dude - take it easy. If you have to copy your document to a floppy - take the following steps.
1) Insert the floppy in the drive.
2)Click 'file' and then 'save as'
3) Click the drop down arrow in the box 'save in'
4) Choose 31/2 floppy drive
5) Name your file and click 'save'

That is all there is to it!

Floppy drives are old technology - most new computers don't even have a 31/2 drive any more. Flash drives are the rage.
