This happened to my brother earlier this year. He grabbed his cell phone, his wife grabbed two photo albums and her purse, his oldest child was still clutching a security blanket and the other was still clutching a Snoopy doll. They couldn't find their cat at the time, but she was later found alive and returned to them at our family home.
As for me, I don't have a spouse or children and still live at our family home, but of course I'd save my own cat. As far as non-living things, my sister-in-law had the right idea.

I cant believe no one said photo album yet! Those pictures are priceless & that would be the only thing I will grab if my house was on fire.

My dog. I have a little Pomeranian who I totally adore and I couldnt imagine leaving him in the house if it were on fire.

My son! If he's safe, then I go get the plasma tv. My pictures are all stored at my mom's.

hmmm...probably my blanket thats been in the family since i was a little kid....or my huge teddy bear, or my lightsaber....
i would probably just burn alive in my house because i cant choose......
