If he got a yellow its a warning if he gets a red he has to leave the field like any other player? The laws are the same for the goalie.

If the goalie did get a red the team would have to put someone else in to play goalie.

For a Top Contributor the first answer has fact errors. Cech was replaced with Cudicini. Then Cudicini also was injured and Chelsea had no other keepers on the bench. This is why John Terry got to be in goal.

As for the original question everyone has it right. If a red card is produced then the goalie leaves. Another field player is subbed and a new goal keeper comes on. This happened in the 2006 Champion's league Final. Lehmann was red carded and Alumina came on for Pires.

If the team no longer have a sub available then a player on the field will take the keeper jersey and play there for the rest of the game.

what do you mean what would happen, if he gets a yellow nothing unless his team feel like subbing him. as for red, they make a substitute where as they sub an outfield player (one of the defenders, midfielders or forwards) for a different goalie, if they've used up their 3 subtitutes and the goalie gets a red card, then they are in trouble. this has happened a few times before, one of the outfield players have to go into goal. last year when cech (chelsea fc goalie) got that head injury (i know it's different from a red card), and chelsea had used up their 3 subs, john terry (defender) went in goal. it's the same for any soccer games. any level.

yellow is a warning-second yellow or red is a sending off-regardless of which player it's issued to. an outfield player may be subbed for the reserve goalie.

If they get a second yellow or a red, either a midfielder would be subbed out for another keeper. Or another player on the field would be the keeper.
