There is Hispanic Heritage Month + Black History Month, but no White History Month or European History Month?

Question

I suppose people were under the assumption I didn't know about Irish/Italian/German/Polish/etc Heritage Month. I do know about these and enjoy them (particularly Irish and Italian as that is where my family is from). What I wanted to know is where is White History Month or European Hertiage Month? And no White History Month is not 10 months out of the year because there aren't signs, billboards, commericals, magazine ads, endorsements, advocating and recognizing White History Month :). So I ask you once again...

i hate the fact that we have months set aside for different races. it bores me now. when i was younger i used to take pride in black history month. no i see that its true purpose, that is its meaningless.

there is no white history month, asian history month, native american history month, european history month, austrialian history month.

if we're gonna set aside months for different races/ethnicities. we gotta include everyone.

otherwise it just comes off as racist

Great point. These "months" cause more harm than good. Why not have an American Month? Here is an email I sent a while back on this type of issue:
What do we call those who are from Jamaica, or Latin America? Is it not stereotyping to say that all those who are "black" are from Africa? If we are to take these extremes, I would like to be called European American...
no wait, I am an American first; therefore, I would like to be called
American from European decent. But then again, would it not be better to just be called an American.

I will not be offended, while I was a pastor in Uvalde; I was called a "wet-o" which means that I am "white" sorry, American from European decent. (Better... American) I was not offended, as a matter of fact, I laughed about it. I do not know Spanish and they spoke Spanish around me all the time, I was not offended. They told me that some words meant things that they did not mean, I realized it after I was using the words, and I was not
offended. I was the minority while on the job and in the town, I was not offended.
I was not offended by any of these terms or the way that I was treated, because, I knew that I was in America. In America it matters not what your heritage is or your family background, you can achieve what you set out to accomplish. I feel sorry for those that are so sensitive to the thoughts or words of others. They will never realize the potential that they have, due to their own blindness and the fact that they care too much about the
thoughts of others.
I could give a long dissertation about those who if they listened to the words of others would have never reached their true potential. Michael Jordan could not play ball... not allowed on team... not good enough, Albert Einstein failed math, and Oprah Winfrey would never have a successful talk show.
May I remind you that all three of these people could have taken the words that were said about them and hid in a closet, but they changed our world.
I refuse to allow a stereotype or someone referring to the color of my skin, to keep me back from my goals. I wish that everyone
thought this way. I hope that one day they will. You too can achieve what you are after, but first you have to get past the sensitivity of vocabulary and learn to be you, an American.

Well this is staler than biscotti isn't it?

Blacks and Latinos have black and Hispanic Heritage month because most blacks aren't sure exactly what their ancestors ethnicity was and Latinos took that they could get and use this as an opportunity to let us know that they're not all Mexican and to remind Americans that they were here long before any of us were (black, white or Asian).

There's no need for "White History Month" because you have ethnic group specific months. If you want to celebrate White History, feel free to celebrate all of those months. Unless you're saying that you want to do away with the ethnically specific months and just have one like everyone else. Seems kind of silly to me but whatever tickles your pickle.

The answer is quite simple.

White history makes up 98% of what is taught in American history from elementary school to college. Why would you need a month? It would only reinforce what has already been learned.

I think you, and all others who request a WET and a White History Month, are being quite petty. This pettiness prevents you from seeing the fact that you already have all that you are asking for.

Here in the U.S. our official language is from Europe, every president we've ever had has been white, what else do you want? Even customs that were originally from the blacks and Hispanics are now being "enjoyed" by whites like the Southern accent, the whole cowboy thing, rap, and so much more.
