For all who did not know, today is the birthday of one of the 20th century's highest reguarded people. I used to know him personally, and i can say with every fiber in me that there will never be anyone like him again. (of course i am talking about john lennon).
my question is "where are people like john today"? I mean, i think our country is a joke right now. we have no leadership at all. i think that our youth has deserted america today.
what are your thoughts?

Don't take this to heart but, I didn't know John Lennon nor do I believe he's the apple of America's eye, like I said, please don't take this to heart.
Some of our young men and women have been to Iraq and back, four and five times, answering the call to our president, have you been there, how have you answered the call to your country and, yes, I did answer my countries call in '66 and '67 for two tours in 'Nam and was wounded twice.
Don't underestimate the youth of our country, they have given the best they could when the call came up, did John?
Did you? Our youth hasn't deserted America, maybe you haven't looked in the right places. How many will walk with no legs, one leg, will not walk again, they gave it for their country, what did you give and, now your putting them down, shame on you.
My grandson has been in Iraq for thee years now, we'd love to see him home, I saw him four months ago on a leave, he has three children, we're very worried for him, we and the children need him here and, you put him down, how dare you.

First ofall, you're not Phil Spector. Secondly, John Lennon was just a talented musician, nothing more. His "solo" claim to fame was "imagine." Too bad he was gunned down by a man with problems but, beyond that, John Lennon wasn't a roll model in my mind.
As far as todays kids are concerned:
There are a lot of really good ones out there who one day, will go on to be outstanding adults. The problems with some of them are their own behaviour choices & wrong friends. Some of the parents of those problem kids need to get in the game better but, they can't be with the kid all the time. If the kid keeps making bad choices, then the kid needs to suffer the consequences.

I think that there is a lack of faith in the youth of today. There was a lack of faith in the youth of yesterday just as their is in today's. It will continue on and forever. I will look at the youth whenever I get older and say the same exact thing- I do not believe that the youth is becoming any more distant it's simply the fact that the older generation is not listening or watching what the younger crowd is capable of. They are only acknowledging the crude and disgusting acts in which they display.

First of all, most of us are actually pretty smart. Most of us are decent. You just only see the bad ones. Second of all, YOUR GENERATION RAISED US. I hate when adults say that. For one, I am not like that, but mostly it is because parents think that they can tell their kids what to do, so they also have to accept some of the blame. Why were all the hippies so bad? Trust me, they did way more drugs and stuff like that than this generation. In case you haven't noticed, our economy is already crap. We are not old enough, so I guess that is your fault. Gosh, what happened to the adults of America? No, really what happened?

I think the Bible says it best. This is so true with people today. No more natural affection.

Well I know but what do you expect? Todays kids are fatter & dumber than ever. All they do is surf the net, eat @ McDonalds, inhale chemicals that KILL them to get high, play with X box's, I pods & their parents spoil or ignore them. They also don't know the meaning of the words "BIRTH Control" when they shouldn't be having sex @ 15 to begin with!

The trouble is that the schools do not teach high morals and there is no prayer in the schools. So the world is ging to hell in a handbasket.

I want to know too! Where all the good people? Where are the people who wanted peace and happiness? Why have they all disappeared?
We need John back. His message hopefully will reach many generations to come. (As he reached me)
