I remember seeing some type of glue/iron on thing for cars a long time ago or have they advanced in that yet?

I just have a small tear that needs patched.

Any ideas?

With all due respect, STUFF hyped on TV isn't always more than a scam.

If you want the jacket; take it to a tailor; and let someone knowledgable help you. It might cost more than an advertised miracle; but might be worth it in the end

I have used adhesive tape (as in bandage type) to mend tears in clothing. One skirt I ripped on a school bus on the way to school, the school nurse gave me the tape to fix it until I got home. Years later and several washings, the tape still held the tear.

I don't think it would hold up to dry cleaning. If you were sending the jacket to the dry cleaners, I would just remove the tape first, so it wouldn't get all tacky, then put new on after dry cleaning. Of course, dry cleaning suede kind of makes it look like a shammy afterwards, sometimes.
