A collapsed yolk sac means that the yolk sac is beginning to deteriorate. And that is normal at 7 weeks. Your body produces a yolk sac to provide nutrients to your baby when it begins to develop. After 7 weeks, the placenta is there to finish out the job, so the yolk sac is no longer needed.

The technician was telling you that what he/she saw was normal. Please don't hesitate to ask questions of your health care providers........Dr.s, nurses, techs.....that's what they are there for. You shouldn't have to worry unnecessarily.

I have a question, my wife went in yesterday for her first ultra sound and it showed she is at 6 weeks and 2 days the fetus CRL is at 5mm, heart rate of 70bpm and the MD said appears yolk sac is collapsing. We have another ultra sound set for next Thursday, I was just wondering if anyone knew what the chances of things improving were?

I don't know what collapsed yolk sac means but I do know that the yolk sac goes away relatively early and then the baby gets it's nutrients from the placenta.
