There is no definitive answer to your question as there are many variables that play into the time it takes for the file to be read and written back to the disk:

-Depends on how good the processor is of the computer doing the reading and writing.

-Depends on whether the file is being pulled from the local hard drive or across the network or Internet.

-Depends on how much available memory the computer has when reading the file. If it does not have very much memory then it will cache it to a temp file on the hard drive.

-Depends on how big the file is. Typically a small file takes barely any time at all, but if the file is a few megabytes in size then it will take several seconds for the process to complete. Larger files could even take a couple of minutes to process depending on how big they are.

Depends on your PC. The faster your processor, the faster it will perform those kinds of tasks.
