God is above nationalism. Saying "God Bless America" promotes a dangerous theology. It perpetuates the idea that God is always on the side of the US. But if that were true, then that would mean that throughout history, God has chosen to intervene or not intervene in certain matters. In WWII Germany had convincingly won many battles. Are we to believe that God either chose not to intervene or that he was on Hitler's side? Was it only once the US became involved that God decided to switch sides and support the US since we defeated Hitler? Assuming God blesses America and only America is an arrogant assumption that presumes America to be greater than God. God does not choose sides in battles and does not bless any one country any more than another. What America and Americans should always hope for is not that God is on our side, but that we as a people and as a country are on GOD's side.

God bless America is a request, a hope a wish for good.
I think religious people call that a prayer.

Great question! He does NOT support America against other nations as ALL humans are His and members of ALL nations are loved by Him.
Uninformed "Christians" fall blindly into nationalism.

As James Madison, one of the founders of the Constitution, once wrote: "Politics and Religion will both remain more pure, the less they are mixed together."
