And you're asking this - why?

What's your agenda here? I know you have one.

No, I thought I did but as it turned out that big strong brave man is who i needed protection from the most. I don't need a ring on my finger, I don't need a man, I have to make my own happiness and look after myself.

The ring on my finger was a gift from my grandmother. I wear it because I like silver and I love my grandmother. A ring that comes from a man is a sign of love, not protection. (Not "promise rings," though. I don't believe in giving rings until you're actually going to propose.) I certainly don't need men to save me from anything.

in dungeons and dragons my 20th level plaiden has a + 5 ring of protection .

sorry i had to realy geek and nerd out this answer .

seriously i cant speak for women becuase i am a man but i think women want to take on the challenges themselves . Sometimes though a challenge can be handled by a man more effectivley . I think the ring should be classified as a back up plan .

One other thing men love to get women out of trouble if they do not deserve it .Men hate it when women are extremely obnoxious to other men forcing fights that should not have occured in the first place . I have seen that in college .

so in conclusion i am happy to play the role of protector when it is warranted but i dont want to be needlessly put into the role of protector if a woman can handle it herself or has the good sense not to cause or start trouble that i have to clean up after .

No, I actually didn't wear my ring if I was in a bad neighborhood---it would have thrown me into the cruel world of getting robbed. So no, I took mine off to be protected from the cruelty.

No. The ring on my finger is a symbol of undying love,,,,that is why it is round.

Do I need him to save me from this cruel world? We save each other.

I think it's mutual, actually. We make a pretty good team. I love my big, strong man, thank you very much.

Engagement rings were used centuries ago, in the Jewish and Christian faiths, to show the woman and her family that the guy wasn't just using her - he intended to support her for the rest of her life. It isn't supposed to mean, "I'd like to live with you for a while, and I may or may not leave you and the kids at some point and refuse to provide for you." *Real* men, like my husband, still get engaged. Overgrown adolescents *play* at getting engaged.

My ring is a symbol that there is someone I'm willing to spend the rest of my life with and for anyone interested in anything beyond friendship or business should move on to someone else.

I would think that a ring is a sign of love and commitment.

I don't wear rings on any of my fingers. I find them very uncomfortable and will keep taking them off. So to keep from losing rings, I prefer not wearing them at all.
