Here is the non-legend version:
Satan, also called the adversary or the devil, is the enemy of all righteousness and of those who seek to follow God. He is a spirit son of God who was once an angel "in authority in the presence of God." But in the premortal Council in Heaven, Lucifer, as Satan was then called, rebelled against God. Since that time, he has sought to destroy the children of God on the earth and to make them miserable.
One primary issue in the conflict between God and Satan is agency. Agency is a precious gift from God; it is essential to His plan for His children. In Satan's rebellion against God, Satan "sought to destroy the agency of man." He said: "I will redeem all mankind, that one soul shall not be lost, and surely I will do it; wherefore give me thine honor."
Satan persuaded "a third part of the hosts of heaven" to turn away from the Father. As a result of this rebellion, Satan and his followers were cut off from God's presence and denied the blessing of receiving a physical body.
Heavenly Father allows Satan and Satan's followers to tempt us as part of our experience in mortality . Because Satan "seeketh that all men might be miserable like unto himself," he and his followers try to lead us away from righteousness. He directs his most strenuous opposition at the most important aspects of Heavenly Father's plan of happiness. For example, he seeks to discredit the Savior and the priesthood, to cast doubt on the power of the Atonement, to counterfeit revelation, to distract us from the truth, and to contradict individual accountability. He attempts to undermine the family by confusing gender, promoting sexual relations outside of marriage, ridiculing marriage, and discouraging childbearing by married adults who would otherwise raise children in righteousness.
Individuals do not have to give in to Satan's temptations. Each person has the power to choose good over evil, and the Lord has promised to help all who seek Him through sincere prayer and faithfulness.

. Satan was called Lucifer after God created him. Lucifer means "Light bringer" that's why some old fashioned matches are called Lucifer matches. God created Lucifer first before He created all the other angels. God created Lucifer the most beautiful of all the angels, the most powerful, the most intelligent of angels. Lucifer's pride got to him. As angels have free will the same as humans do, Lucifer decided that he didn't have to obey God, that he could do what ever he wanted to and that included God's commandments. At about that time Lucifer's name was changed to Satan, which means adversary, Jesus said, Satan, your adversary, prowls around like a hungry lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him and he will flee from you. At the final judgmentent The Holy Spirit will be like your defense attorney. Another name for the Holy Spirit , in The Greek is the Paraclete, which means Defensive attorney . ''''''''''''''''''''' hello hello hello's'

English...with whole words and real words would be useful. But supposedly Lucifer was the angel of music, and one of God's highest angels, but he didn't want to be just an angel so he went against god and 'fell' which means he stopped being an angel and became Lucifer or Satan, or the devil or however you want to refer to the ruler of hell if you believe in that type of thing.

many bible students believe that Isaiah 14:12-15 describes not only the demise of the ancient Babylonian king, but also the fall of Satan himself. Pride was the cause in both cases:

The short story is Lucifer and his homiestried to fight God and failed. Lucifer & Co. got sent somewheres hotter than Miami, where Lucifer became the boss and he said, "It is better to rule here, than to serve there." If you want to know the long story, read Milton, not the Bible.

ok, as far as i know, no one really knows, it's just a book, a story. but Lucifer is the first angel from God, who choose not to be with God, fell to earth (da) unless there's another planet out there, that God actually made, besides earth. (then there would be 2 Lucifers') So God sent Lucifer down to be punished, (guess they had a falling out, bad room-mates, forgot to put the toilet seat down) therefore we are all punished by God, in Lucifers' hand, until we die, God gets our soul (that's it?)....meanwhile we pray to God for forgiveness, give our money to church, (run by Lucifer, unless there's a direct deposit to God's bank account?) weird huh. as far as i know, if it wasn't for Lucifer, we would not exist, the bible forgot to mention that. good thing it was just a story....to be continued...
