I have a 3.5 inch scar on my neck to the right of my voice box. I had a small lump that popped up almost over night about 15 years ago, doctors thought it was an infection and gave meds but they didn't work. They scheduled outpatient surgery to remove the little thing (expected a 30 minute surgery) and 3 hours later they told my mom and husband that the infection had become encapsulated and wrapped around my carotid artery. If I had waited longer it would have squeezed the artery shut closing off blood supply to my brain.

I will live with that scar!! The bad side was that I was 6 weeks pregnant at the time and the anesthesia apparently caused some organs to not develope. I delivered at 28 weeks and my son did not survive. That scar is much tougher to handle, but I wouldn't be a functioning human being nor have the son I do have living without this surgery.

Let's see...
1) I've got a nice line of scars across both sets of nuckles from falling off my bike as a kid. I was naive and hung on to the handlebars as i flipped forward.
2) Then there is a good inch long scar on the inner side of my right elbow that i dont remember how it got there anymore. Probably the same bike accident. :)
3) Ohh...I've got one around the base of my right middle finger where I almost cut it to the bone my senior year of HS on a milling machine. I had some nice black and white tunnel vision on that one for a good five minutes.
4) And then there is the nice 3/4" by 1/4" scarred area on the inside of my left index finger, first joint from pretty much gouging out my finger on a piece of sheet metal at work last july. I could see the blood vesel on either side of the missing muscle when that happened.

When I was in 2nd grade my sister locked me out of the house and me being 8 yrs old I started to bang on the window in the door and it broke and I ended up having over 100 stitches all together- 60 in one arm and 40 in the other. Thankfully its not as noticeable as it once was and thank god I lived thru it. I almost died from bleeding so much. Then I had a c section when my son was born and I had 13 staples in my tummy.

When I was living in Spain as a child, my grandmother had a little farm I loved going to. She liked to cook outside on wood, even though there was a kitchen in the house.
So one day, she's cooking some gazpacho in a large pot and was teaching me to prepare it, I was giddy and excitedly stirring with the wooden spoon she gave me to use. Somehow, the pot lost balance and fell on my leg.
I won't tell of the excruciating pain that followed, but it did take a few months to heal...what remains now is a light-tan, 1 and half-inch (or so) scar on my thigh.

1st degree burn on right side of my head...hair caught on fire when I was 3 yrs old. VERY lucky though, it's smooth & white & my hair hides most of it. Just have to choose the right hairstyles. It's numb & tingly & my mother still likes to "show" it to people...I'm 30, but since she let me play with a candle it was apparently a tragic event in HER life. LOL
