Suez canal is important to Europe because it is the shortest and main gate to Sea transport to the Arabian Gulf and Asia.
It is Important to Egypt as one of the main sources of foriegn currency income.
It is important to United States becasue,... ...not sure, but who knows, they will make it mportant to justify a war in the future.

The suez canal connects the Red sea with the Medeterrainan sea. All trade from Europe and USA to Asia and from Asia to Europe and USA passes through the suez canal. If not it has to go around Africa.
