yeah be a man and contact the seller and tell him you don't want the item but trust me it will make you look bad... sellers and of course ebay as well do not like bidders that win and then back out of buying the item...

It's REALLY bad form to bid when you don't intend to pay, it can get you banned if you do it more than once. These are legit auctions where you pay when you win the item. It's a purchase not a game.

Contact the seller (there's a button that says 'contact the seller') and apologize profusely about it, don't just do nothing. You'll get negative feedback which will affect anyone who you want to buy from, they could turn you down automatically because of it.

When you bid, you agreed to pay. It's legally binding. New is no excuse. Those ads and sales cost the seller. Maybe you can make a deal with the seller. Look on the side of the ad and it has a place that says contact seller. Send him an email but you should at least agree to cover his costs of the sale and relisting plus you have wasted his time and that costs too.
You sound like a jerk. Why do you do things when you have no idea what you are doing? You can also go on ebay and read about cancelling your bid.

The rule on ebay is: you bid, you win, you pay.
Go to the auction page and click Ask the Seller and ask if they would kindly let you out of your obligation. If they say no, you have to pay. If you don't pay, the seller will file an Unpaid Item Dispute against you and if you don't pay, you will get a strike. Three strikes and you're out. Ebay will close your account after 180 days of inactivity, I believe.

My understanding is that once you won an item your obligated to pay for it. If its no to much like in the hundreds they wont do anything bu maybe cancel your account. But if it is, look foward to going to court. Your in a legal binding contract with ebay. Or you can buy the item and re sell it.

You are legally obligated to buy it. Canceling your account will not get you out of it, as the seller can take you to court.
You are better off contacting the seller and seeing if they will allow you to back out of the deal, maybe for a small penalty charge to you.

Why did you bid for it? You should be asking this on eBay forums, not here. You have to pay up or take the Nigerian way and re register.

You bought it! You must pay for it.
When one is NOT familiar with something,
ask the procedure before making a commitment to purchase.
Also, you will now NOT have a favorable rating if you want to purchase anything else on E-bay.
