I am going to America for two months as a tourist and on the VWP (visa waiver program) I know i will be asked to show proof of financial solvency. I will be staying in an apartment so I will not need money for hotels. Could anybody tell me if there is a minimum amount of money to show as proof for the length of time i will be staying? -please answer seriously- Thanks

I dont know what city are you going to be but at least 1 room in a shared house will be about $ 500, food 100, transportation 100, plus visiting, tourists places, maybe $ 1,000/mo? well you can say that you will come with that money and in case that you need more you have made arrangements with (parents, brothers, friends, banks) tosend you more
I hope I have helped you
Have a good trip

This was a tough one. It seems very subjective. Show up with a credit card and ATM card and you should be OK. A letter of invitation to stay at that apartment would not hurt to have either I guess. Since there is no actual dollar value per day and you have lodgings covered, the credit card and ATM card as well as at lease SOME cash would more than likely get you through. Have a GREAT trip!!
