For the sake of this question, assume the guns are someone's personals in their home, or those in possession of an armed guard or some person of authority. But try not to consider guns in the possession of peace officers.
If you answer yes: Do you think you have a false sense of security? Is your feeling based more on a pro-gun attitude? Do you feel safer because you feel guns are a deterrent or because you feel more capable of defending yourself?
If you answer no: Are you afraid of guns in general? Do you think your "fear" may be based on misconceptions of guns and/or gun owners?
For me, I don't really have a feeling about the presence of guns as long as it's someone I feel I can trust. However, I would generally prefer guns were kept away. I feel a home with guns is much more likely to be the target of theft (for the guns). And I feel an accident with a gun is far more likely than any self defense situation.

In the case of schools or the work place, I feel the presence of a gun is more likely to result in an accident or shooting of passion than to be used in a self defense situation. While I can appreciate the idea of having armed people around in a rampage shooter situation, I also feel there's added danger of innocents being caught in the crossfire.

Firearms safety and marksmanship should be mandatory courses of study at about the 6th. grade level.
I'm afraid of ignorance and people who legislate out of uninformed fear. Also afraid of the media that is censoring the Crandon Massacre of last Sunday with a cop doing mass murder, but tonight ran a news story with the same "arsenal" video clip they (NBC) has used for over 30 years. Those people are deliberately misleading the public.

I don't feel safe when a stranger around me has a gun (typically this means the police). If it were someone I trust, that would be okay -- but then again I haven't really been around family or friends with guns, except at a shooting range, and then it's also fine because everyone has a gun.
At this point in my life, I wouldn't feel comfortable with a gun in my home, simply because I'm still young and sometimes I get drunk and I wouldn't want any accidents... in 10 years or so if I'm settled down it would be a different story and I would almost certainly want one.

I have defended myself with a gun at least a couple of times. If I wouldn't have had it, I probably wouldn't be here right now. I am a woman who is alone much of the time in a very rural area next to a poverty stricken Indian reservation where bums are hitchhiking daily near my home. I keep guns and two large German Shepperd/Husky cross dogs that are my protection. I am glad for you that live where you feel like having one isn't necessary, but I don't. Why do you who live where it is safe want to take something away from me that guarantees me safety? Do you want to take away my ability to defend myself? Think about it........

At home, yes. I like having guns around. I would rather use a gun (for protection) on someone than a knife or someting (knifes just seem more gruesome). Like you said though, it would have to be in the hands of someone I trust, if I was around someone with one (but I am pretty trusting)... But yes, I like guns and I am pro-gun...
Good question, I will star.

I have been in some very abusive relationships and if i had a gun they would be dead, so maybe it was best not to have one around at the time. I do feel safe now i don't have a gun but the abusiers are in prison

Yes I know it's not false security because I can use it and I will to protect my home and family so it won't be an accident when the criminal choses to violate my space; it will be their last choice. America w/o guns just puts them in the hands of the criminals.

No, I don't like guns....having more guns, more police officers, more laws, doesn't solve the problem. In order to end violence, once and for all, we have to create change-change in how we view life, change in the system, and change in society. That's the only way for us to truly have peace.
