If the rash is not getting better with standard diaper creams, it is possible that the diaper rash may be something like a yeast infection. This is not uncommon babies. If the rash is red and bump, and seems to go across skin folds, then the odds are that it is a yeast infection. Take the baby to the pediatrician and they can give you a prescription for the right kind of cream. Traditional diaper creams will not take care of a yeast diaper rash.

consult with your doctor as soon as possible, she or he may be able to perscribe something for it. It may be a yeast infection type of diaper rash... diaper rashes can be very uncomfortable and painful for babies so the sooner you can consult with the doctor the better.
Also some tips when applying the diaper rash cream.. is to make sure they diaper area is dry before applying it (use a dry cloth to blot off any extra moisture from diaper wipes)... Don't rub on the area when wiping and applying it can be painful... bloch/dab it on.
I've never heard of penaten diaper rash cream... I've always and only used desitin because of the high % of zinc oxide that clears up diaper rash irritations quickly... and usually referred by doctors to use....
There are many types of diaper rashes, if they last more than 48 hours or a large type of rash you should definately speak with your doctor first before experiementing with creams and things because it could only irritate the area more!

My 2 y/o had this happen when he was younger, and the Pediatrician called in an antibiotic cream called Nystatin, and it cleared right up. Not all Diaper rashes are just a rash....Sometimes it needs a little more in terms of treatments that the over the counter remedies can give. I'd call the Doc and tell them whats going on...When I did this, I didn't even have to go into the doc's office...they knew exactly what was up, and just called the pharmacy, I had the stuff in about an hour, and my son's rash started clearing up by the next morning!
Good luck!

Don't worry. Keep up with keeping her clean and dry. You can give her a lot of naked ..fresh air time as well. My daughter had a lot of rashes as well. My pediatrician said i could use over the counter cortisone cream when it got bad. I don't know how old your baby is but my daughter was 5-9months when it was a problem. It did the trick and is safe but you can call and ask a nurse if you want to make sure. Also she was on a lot of antibiotics for ear infections and that kills a lot of good bacteria which in turn gave her a yeast infection. That was a rash that did spread and looked like lots of small red bumps. If you not sure bring her in for reassurance. It's awful to see you baby in any level of pain. Good Luck

My daughter was getting bad rashes too and I would let her air out for a while and I also switched to cloth diapers! She has not had a rash since I switched! They are really helping my pocket book too:) Cloth diapering is so easy these days with all the options out there. That's what I would suggest. Worked for me and the Doctor thought it was a great solution!

Give her a warm bath and then let her air dry. The quickest way to clear a bad diaper rash is to give it some air.
Maybe put on a towel or absorbant underneath to catch if she pees. But give it some air, don't put anything on it (at first) and just let it air out.
If it does get worse, call the pediatrician for "magic butt cream" it has an antifungal ingrediant that clears diaper rash up fast. But it is a perscription and will cost money.
Best of luck, it is miserable to watch your little one with sore butt!

I agree with a few others. My son never got diaper rashes. all of a sudden, he got one that wouldn't go away no matter what we tried....keep him dry, let him go naked, baths, creams, etc. i took him to the doctor, and he told me it was a yeast diaper rash! i bought monistat over the counter(same cream you would use for a vaginal yeast infection!) and put it on.....within a couple of hours it looked better and by next day it was almost gone! call your doctor and ask, but it worked like a charm for me!

purchase Lotriman for interior the anti fungal foot care section. I continually save this handy in step with Dr's request. that's for yeast infections. If the rash is bumpy and looks like blister sporatically, then that's greater effective than in all threat that. i might take her into the Dr besides, I as additionally prescribed a anti-bacterial cream to purpose and sparkling yet another one up. It only occurs, has no longer something to do with the way you're treating your infant as long because of the fact the infant is replaced each 2-3 hours, and given a shower each night. :)

Could be the brand of diaper. I am going to assume that you don't use cloth diapers so maybe that is the cause. Some babies have sensitive skin and some diapers irritate them. Keep em clean, and dry and vasoline usually does the trick. NO POWDER! Only holds moisture. Good luck.

If it persists for seven days, you need to take her to the pediatrician. Keep her as dry as possible- clean diapers ever couple hours, rash cream (I use Desitin and Balmex) and powder. Also, if you can, let her stay bare bottomed for a while to really let her dry out.
