We both realized the kind of connection we had was beyond just physical attraction. My husband is a wonderful person, humanitarian, intellect and humourist. I cannot imagine what life would be without him. He fills such a place in my heart. We both feel truly blessed. I adore him and he feels the same about me.

He wanted to improve his life and he figured becoming a Mormon was the answer. We both were single with a child, living under the same roof. As time went by, the Elders told him that we had to get married in order for him to be baptized into the Mormon Church or either one of us had to move out. So I married him based on that, and that alone. Did it improve his life after? No. He became the same Person as did before. We parted after 23 years of being together.

Oh well, live and learn and learn again. Life! Gotta Love it!

I'll be completely honest. I'm divorced now, but I got married before because I loved him as a person and he looked good "on the paper"...this is a result of cultural conditioning of what a husband should have or be like. I didn't care much for my individualism and how the two of us would function together. His family, career, appearance, family's encouragement, the fact that he would make a wonderful father etc...made the decision for me. Also, I was expected to get married to be complete. He is a wonderful man but lots of things are good in theory while don't work in practice. I think it's like picking your college major-- you need to know yourself, your goals and what you want out of life before picking the right major for you---when you marry young, you haven't really had time to figure any of that out.

I knew he was my perfect match. He's smart, incredibly kind, loves kids, has the perfect mix of liberal and conservative values, he's spiritual yet openminded, and he dreamed of coming home to a house full of little children and a SAHM.

After a few short months of living together, we got engaged. There is no better match for me on this Earth! He is a good person with good values, and I trust him completely. We knew pretty quickly that we could both stop looking for someone "better".

Because the two of us together make a good couple, good parents and are good for each other. We bring out the best in each other and can still say we love each other even when the worst parts of us come out. We balance each other, and bring to the relationship what the other person is lacking.

I got married to my husband because I wanted to be able to practice my religion without my mother and stepfather asking me questions about it. I also got married because I wanted to start a family and didn't want to go to college. I would have been forced to go to college if I hadn't gotten married. Plus my mother and stepfather never let me do anything or have friends so that was another reason I got married. And I also liked him and still do.

Because I knew I was going to marry him before our first date was even half over. I love him and feel comfortable around him and feel as though he is my best friend. Quite honestly, I don't want to imagine planning a future without taking his wants or needs into consideration.

Because she's the only person I've ever met where I would rather make her happy than make myself happy, and she'd rather make me happy than make herself happy. So we're a perfect match. We're just so in love, and we got married on our 5 year anniversary. I would do anything for her, and she would do the same for me. We're best friends. Just responding to your question is making me smile. That's why.
