He cant see over the line of scrimmage! You are right he is as good as rex grossman, however I think Griese has more experience than rex and leek combined and Experience is a big part of being a successful quarterback. THey need someone who can manage enough to win and not manage to slip and lose.

Initially, no. While a top college QB might seem like an upgrade from Grossman or Griese, the game is totally different at the pro level than at the college level. The speed of the game, the decision making, and the physical punishment is on a completely different level. And, even the best college QBs take a year or two to get used to the NFL level.
Part of the problem with the Bears is that the entire offense has become complacent with mediocre performance. Last year, the Bears won by making spectacular defensive and special teams plays, as well as settling for field goals, resulting in the majority of the team's points. This year, they went in with the same expectations. And, when the defense started falling apart (injuries, mostly), they realized that they couldn't win unless they score on offense.
Yesterday against Green Bay, the defense played more true to form, racking up 5 turnovers and keeping Favre and company off the field. Griese was adequate - enough to win the game - and is an upgrade to Grossman. But, throwing a rookie college QB into the Bears' offense would destroy any chance they would have to win if they had to depend on their offense to score the points.

Actaully he was too small even for college that's why he split time with Tebow at Florida. For any quarterback there are many intangibles that create either success or failure. No matter who you put in the Bears offense a quarterback he is going to have trouble because the system is flawed. Where's the running game?! Cedric Benson was the forth overall pick, yet week in and week out he gets shown up by no names or in Sunday's case a seventh rounder in DeShawn Wynn. Then there are the receivers who are good, but not great. How many dropped passes have they had as a group this year? I know against Dallas Bernard Berrian had at least three including a 35 yard touchdown. Desmond Clark accounted for a few more and it's not exactly a receiving backfield. It all starts with that joke of an offensive coordinator, Chicago has always been built around solid defense and good running with a game manager at quarterback. Now all of the sudden they are passing 60% of the time, Devin Hester is still not involved in the ofense and teams are smart enough to squib kick and punt out f bunds now. The best thing that could happen to Chicago is that Norv Turner gets fired and comes to be the offensive coordinator in Chicago. Rex Grossman would become more consistant and build his confidence back up with Norv as his tutor. History supports that and last year we saw what Rex could do when he was the front runner for MVP of the league through five weeks. Now suddenly we're seeing different qb same results in that Bear's offensive system.

Griese didn't play horrible last night. I saw a shimmer of hope. Right now with this Bears team the way it is, I think the veteran presence is better than the Gator. :-)

OK you aren't a true fan if you can't spell his name. he wasn't the best QB we ever had. he is too small and folds like a lawnchair when the blitz is on. he doesn't throw hard either.
