I asked something similar to this earlier but apparently used the wrong word. So, what would make birth control pills less effective? I already know of antibiotics and St. Johns Wort. Thanks!

Missing a dose, not taking them at the same time every day, and any illness that makes you throw up or have diarrhea.

There is little true evidence that antibiotics make bc less effective, and not taking them at the same time everyday is ok. I have been on bc for many years and have not taken them the same time everyday and I have never been pregnant.

You should refer to the pamphlet that comes with the pill pack.

If you are uncertain the best thing to do would be talk to your doctor or pharmacist and ask them.

That and/or use protection while using the questionable substance.
