I had a fake cabbage patch doll, that was hand made by someone my mom new. Thought that was a tad lame then, but would give anything to have it now. Somehow, all the handmade stuff seems a lot more special to me now, than when i actually got them. The real Cabbage Patch dolls went through and assembly line, mine was made just especially for me. Didn't think of it that way then, though. Then, it just made me feel bad that we were too "poor" for the real thing.

My daughter had both . She was such a tomboy but those darned ugly cabbage patch dolls were the only dolls she wanted. Have a picture of her when she was 18 months holding a transformer.

Well, I grew up in an area where there were no black people and I ended up with a black premie cabbage patch doll. I remember being very confused. My friend told me it was ok, that I could pretend Michael Jackson gave it to me. This was when Thriller was popular.
